SyBox is designed to be accessible and usable by everyone. This statement outlines the accessibility standards we follow, the measures we have taken so far, the areas we are still working to improve, and how to report an accessibility barrier.

Our commitment
We are committed to making SyBox accessible to all users, including those who use screen readers, navigate using only a keyboard, use screen magnification, or require larger text. We treat accessibility as an essential part of how we design, build, and test the product.
Standard and conformance status
We target level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
Conformance status: partially conformant. SyBox is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA: some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard.
What we have done
As of September 2026:
- Automated testing: this website and the sign-in page are checked automatically with axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules on every release, in both light and dark themes; the inbox, conversations, and settings are checked with the same tool during development, and issues found are fixed.
- Buttons: every icon-only button includes an accessible, descriptive label for assistive technologies.
- Forms: all form fields have clear, associated labels.
- Landmarks: screen reader users can navigate easily between the main navigation, conversation list, and active conversation, with a «Skip to conversations» link to jump directly to the list.
- Announcements: incoming messages and notifications are announced to screen readers by sender name rather than reading out message content automatically.
- Keyboard focus: a visible, distinct indicator clearly shows the current keyboard focus.
- Dialogs: keyboard focus moves into a dialog when it opens, stays inside it while it is open, and returns to the element that opened it when it closes. An accidental click outside a dialog does not close it.
- Menus and messages: message actions and menus can be opened and used with the keyboard (arrow keys, Home, End, Escape), and the message history is presented to screen readers as a log.
- Headings: the inbox has a heading structure that lets screen reader users jump between its main areas.
- Error messages: errors are announced to screen readers immediately.
- Images and voice notes: images in a conversation are identified as a photo or sticker together with their caption, and when voice-note transcription is enabled, the transcript is linked to its audio player.
- Time limits: where a step has a time limit for security reasons, such as a two-step verification code or a password reset code, the limit is stated before it starts, and you can start again or request a new code.
- Custom colors: when you choose your own colors, SyBox warns you if text would be hard to read.
- Target size: small controls have a clickable area of at least 24 × 24 pixels.
- Zoom: pinch-to-zoom is supported on mobile devices, and form inputs use a minimum font size of 16px on touchscreens to prevent unwanted automatic zooming.
- Text size and weight: Settings → Appearance offers four text sizes and three font weights, applied across the entire app and saved per device.
- Contrast: color contrast has been carefully verified across both light and dark themes.
- Direction: right-to-left languages, such as Arabic, are displayed with proper text direction and layout.
- Motion: system preferences for reduced motion are strictly respected throughout the interface.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, you may encounter some limitations:
- Customer-submitted content: images sent by customers are described only by their caption, voice notes have a text version only when transcription is enabled for the workspace, and documents are shown exactly as the sender sent them.
- Visual codes (CAPTCHA): some forms ask you to read a code from an image to block automated abuse. If you cannot read it, contact us using the details below and we will help you complete the task.
- Third-party content: certain external components are outside our direct control, such as Meta's WhatsApp message templates and the Facebook authentication dialog.
- Manual audit: a comprehensive manual audit with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack) is currently in progress. We will update this statement once complete.
Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier in SyBox, or if any task is harder to complete than it should be, please let us know. Please specify the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use, if any. We aim to reply within 5 business days.
Technical details and assessment
SyBox relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA to work seamlessly with your web browser and with assistive technologies installed on your device.
We assessed the accessibility of SyBox through continuous self-evaluation alongside the automated testing described above.
